the best bit of you

I have been lost for a while in the indulging and consuming study of literature. It seems that no matter how far and hard I push myself I always find myself intensely admiring the work of others and entering into a type of paralysis as a result.

Lawrence wrote in 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' that "You can't insure against the future, except by really believing in the best bit of you, and in the power beyond it."

I shall keep that with me as a little motto.

Sunday Greetings with a little Cupcake Tuesday thrown in for good measure...

My family have a tradition my siblings have names 'Cupcake Tuesday'. Each Tuesday we indulge in the whimsical and sugary realm of the cupcake! Now, I know it's not a Tuesday but I just couldn't resist posting this pic in homage to the last 'Cupcake Tuesday' we had. :)

It's Sunday.
Life feels like a long layered and sumptuous soundtrack, and I'm in that happy song, you know the one. That song you sing to out loud in the car at the top of your lungs. The one that makes you feel alive...

We are alive and right now people are out there somewhere, icing cupcakes, humming to the radio, and watching the lights shimmer off the water whilst toasting cheese sandwiches.

I am living in the melted cheese layer and looking up at the stars with awe.

the first post

There's a certain pressure that comes with making a first post. There you are, a tiny person in the vast wilderness that is the blogscape, and you are, for the first time, opening your tiny little world to the Universe. With that pressure, of course, comes the terrible tendency to avoid the act of doing anything at all until you come up with the perfect saying, the perfect image, the perfect everything.

Waiting for everything to be perfect eventuates in just about nothing, SO, here is something so much more than that.

I have been wanting to take some photographs in the dark for almost a year now, finally the time came to take them. The night was liquid and spread itself in a thick beautiful mist... the resulting images were more exciting and beautiful than I could have imagined...
So, I guess this is where I introduce the first post:
